Over 10 years ago we published a Viewpoint expressing how digital health “… technologies have the potential to change every aspect of the health care environment and to do so while delivering better outcomes and substantially lowering costs.” While there has been progress over the last decade, for the most part, there remains a disappointing lack of clinical effectiveness data supporting the widescale implementation of digital health technologies (DHTs) to improve healthcare. In this presentation we will discuss some of the more glaring needs to be addressed, technologies that can potential be part of the solutions, and a suggestion of a path for DHTs to achieve their potential in improving health for all.
