Dr. Lenze is the Wallace & Lucille Renard Professor of Psychiatry and an Advisor to the mHealth Research Core at Washington University in St Louis, where he also directs the Healthy Mind Lab.
His research focuses on treatment development and testing in mental and cognitive disorders. He has led numerous clinical trials for behavioral, lifestyle, and pharmacological interventions, as well as explanatory trials using scientific approaches including mobile technology, neuropsychology, cognitive neurosciences, neuroendocrinology and pragmatic trials. Many of these have been large “team science” efforts in which he has successfully led or co-led large transdisciplinary teams of investigators and staff across multiple sites. His role in the MHRC is to guide and support the development of digital resources for investigators in the mHealth space, and to provide consultation to investigators at all stages of the mHealth research cycle.
Dr. Lenze has over 16 years of experience in mentoring pre-doctoral students, post-doctoral fellows, and junior faculty investigators from a variety of backgrounds and programs, some of whom obtained their own funding while in his laboratory. Currently, he mentors four junior faculty and four post-doctoral fellows at Washington University.
