OHCI Appointment
Congratulations to Ellen Fitzsimmons-Craft, PhD, FAED, LP, FAED, LP, Associate Professor of Psychiatry and co-Director of the ICTS mHealth Research Core at WUSM, who was recently appointed to the APA Office of Health Care Innovation Advisory Committee for Mental Health Technology.
The MHTAC will assist OHCI staff in developing strategies to advance ongoing initiatives including telehealth, interoperability and health information exchanges, digital interventions, and additional priorities APA should consider based on its strategic plan.

Chatbot Encourages People with Eating Disorders to Seek Care
In a new NIMH-funded study, Ellen Fitzsimmons-Craft, PhD, FAED, LP, Associate Professor of Psychiatry and co-Director of the ICTS mHRC at WUSM, and colleagues developed a chatbot to encourage people with eating disorders to connect with care.

Woebot for Adolescent Depression Shown to Reduce Symptom Severity in Real-World Setting
Woebot Health interviews Ginger Nicol, MD and Jane Garbutt, MD; together they designed a 12-week IRB-approved study of adolescents diagnosed with depression and/or anxiety by their primary care provider.
According to the paper, which was authored by Nicol and her colleagues and recently published in the Journal of Medical Internet Research (JMIR), participants in the active treatment group experienced a greater reduction in depressive symptoms than the usual care group.

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office on Women’s Health Awards Two Grants to Address Eating Disorders in Adolescent Girls
Ellen Fitzsimmons-Craft and Denise Wilfley from Washington University in St. Louis were one of two sites in the country selected for their MPI grant, “Harnessing State-Wide Partnerships and Technology to Expand Access to Care for Eating Disorders in Adolescent Girls in the COVID-19 Pandemic and Beyond“
